About the Role
The General Manager of Uber Eats, is responsible for the strategy, growth, and P&L of the Uber Eats business across Belgium. This high-impact role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional commercial judgment, and robust operational skills to launch and lead one of Uber Eats' most dynamic European markets.
You will set the vision, define the local strategy, help build and lead the local team, and act as the primary face of Uber Eats to the media, government, and key partners in Belgium. You'll partner closely with the Regional leadership team to advocate for the market and leverage global resources for local success.
What You’ll Do
- Full P&L Ownership & Strategy: full responsibility for the financial health of Uber Eats, including forecasting, and driving key business levers (e.g., revenue, margin, gross bookings) to achieve sustainable, profitable growth
- Strategic thinking: drive competitive advantage through defining country strategy, including expansion into new cities or product verticals (e.g., grocery, retail) in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders
- Operational Excellence: Design resilient, iterative systems that balance long-term goals with the agility to pivot, together with relentless continuous improvement with focus on the customer experience. You’ll also implement high-priority, cross-functional projects aimed at improving efficiency (e.g., reducing delivery times, improving reliability, preventing fraud, membership)
- Team Leadership: Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing local team, fostering a culture of accountability, data-centric decision-making, and rapid execution.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: foster strong partnerships by breaking down silos, engaging teams, and leveraging cross-functional expertise to achieve shared goals, drive innovation, and create impact across Uber
- External Stakeholder Engagement: You are the primary representative for Uber Eats, proactively engaging with top restaurant groups, strategic retail partners, policymakers, regulatory bodies, and media
- Policy & Communications: Work directly with the Policy and Communications teams to manage local narratives, proactively address regulatory challenges, and ensure the business operates in a compliant and sustainable manner.
What you'll need
- Professional Experience: 10+ years of experience in high-growth operations, general management, management consulting, or a similar strategic role.
- P&L Management: Experience working closely with a P&L (revenue, margin, forecasting, budgeting), with a proven track record of driving improvements that lead to sustainable, profitable growth in a complex market.
- Leadership Experience: Experience managing and developing high-performing, diverse teams; ideally in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Strategic Market Expansion: Experience defining and executing country-level strategies, including launching new product verticals or expanding into new geographic territories.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with experience acting as a primary representative to external partners, such as enterprise-level clients, regulatory bodies, and media outlets.
- Operational Rigor: Demonstrated ability to build and scale processes, with a relentless focus on data-centric decision-making and continuous process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Worked in roles with direct P&L accountability
- Experience in on-demand logistics, delivery, or a multi-sided marketplace business model.
- Understanding of the consumer market and the local competitive and regulatory landscape.
