About the Role
As a Senior Account Manager on the Grocery & Retail team, you will drive business growth and innovation by managing a portfolio of our largest partners in Japan — spanning grocery, pharmacy, convenience, and other retail verticals — and expanding our business together in mutually beneficial ways.
A successful Senior Account Manager deeply understands our merchant partners, builds strong relationships with decision-makers and influencers throughout their organizations, and effectively identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to improve core business metrics for both our partners and Uber Eats.
What You'll Do
- Own and grow strategic partner relationships: Serve as the primary point of contact for top-tier Grocery & Retail merchants, building trusted advisor relationships with senior stakeholders and key decision-makers.
- Develop joint business plans: Gain a deep understanding of each partner's business strategy, then co-create and execute data-informed growth plans aligned to shared objectives.
- Drive delivery business performance: Identify levers to accelerate order volume, improve selection, and optimize the partner experience on the Uber Eats platform.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with Operations, Product, Marketing, and other internal teams to relay partner feedback, remove blockers, and deliver a seamless experience for all parties.
- Analyze and act on data: Leverage performance data and market insights to inform recommendations, track progress against KPIs, and surface new opportunities.
Basic Qualifications
- Proven experience in account management, business development, or a client-facing commercial role
- Strong stakeholder management skills with a track record of influencing senior partners and internal teams
- Data-driven mindset — comfortable building narratives and making decisions grounded in metrics
- Fluency in Japanese (native or near-native)
- Business-level English (written and verbal)
- Experience working in or with the retail industry (grocery, pharmacy, convenience, or similar verticals preferred)
- Self-starter mentality — biased toward action, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to prioritize independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of SQL or other data querying tools
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth, or platform-based business environment (tech, marketplace, or e-commerce)
- Familiarity with the Japanese retail and/or food delivery landscape
