Tell us about your career journey at Uber.

I joined Uber in 2014 as an Operations & Logistics Manager on the Uber Everywhere team, where I helped launch and scale new mobility markets across the U.S.

In 2017, I transitioned to Community Operations to lead Safety Support for the U.S. & Canada, focusing on elevating both the quality and empathy of our safety operations. After taking on an external role in 2020, I realized how much I missed the mission and the people. I returned to Uber in 2022 to lead Safety Operations for the U.S. & Canada, and in 2024, I stepped into my current role as Head of Central Safety.

You lead Uber’s Central Safety team. What does your team focus on?

Our Central Safety team brings Uber’s Safety Management System to life globally. We focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating safety risks across the platform while developing strong global policies and standards. We operate across key risk areas—Personal Safety, Road Safety, and Identity—and support all of Uber’s product lines, including Mobility and Delivery. Our work is deeply cross-functional, partnering closely with Product, Policy, Marketing, Legal, and Operations to continuously improve safety across the platform.

What makes Safety at Uber unique compared to other organizations?

At Uber, safety isn’t just a department; it’s a core cultural value. Teams across the company embrace the value of Stand for Safety in everything we build. Because of our scale, even small improvements can have a meaningful impact on millions of people every day. We recognize that while our work in safety is never truly finished, we are driven by a vision to be the most trusted platform to move and lead the world safely into the future.

What does the day-to-day work look like for someone on a Safety team?

The work of the safety team is incredibly diverse and dynamic! On any given day, you might find us diving deep into data to identify emerging trends, collaborating with product and engineering teams to build new in-app safety features, or partnering with regional operations teams to localize a global safety policy. Our work blends strategy, insights, and hands-on execution, making it both challenging and incredibly rewarding.

Any advice for someone interested in building a career in Safety at Uber?

Curiosity, empathy, and resilience are key. Safety is a complex, ever-evolving space, so you need to be comfortable navigating ambiguity and leveraging data to solve hard, real-world problems. Always stay connected to the human element behind the metrics. Every decision we make impacts real people moving through their daily lives. If you are passionate about making a tangible, positive impact on a global scale, this is an incredible place to do it.

Uber rating?

Go-to Uber Eats order?

Fresh Market groceries! Having grocery partners integrated right into the Uber Eats app has been a total game-changer. It means spending way less time wandering the aisles and more time focusing on what matters most.
