What’s the most popular office space among employees?

“The dining area, locally known as the lunchbox, is definitely the favoured space among employees. It’s more than just a designated area for meals–it’s evolved into a multifunctional hub fostering a sense of community by providing a space for colleagues to break away from their desks and connect. Its atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for impromptu discussions, brainstorming sessions, or even individual tasks that require a change of scenery. It’s really the heart of our Sydney office.”

Pra Pious, Senior Recruiter:

“Having an in office barista means we can enjoy good quality coffee without having to leave the office. If you’re not a coffee drinker, we have a variety of drinks to suit your taste buds, including Happy Hour every Thursday!”

How does the office design support Uber’s hybrid work philosophy?

“One of the ways we support hybrid work is by ensuring our office space provides alternative workspace options for employees, other than a standard desk so that teams can collaborate and make the most of our space. We’ve added ergonomic chairs for high tables, portable chargers, monitors in booths, private phone booths and additional power points around the office. For those who enjoy working at a desk, we have a universal system for setting up monitors so all desks are the same, ergonomic chairs and sit/stand desks for flexibility to adapt to people’s preferences.”

George Elliot, Senior Recruiter:

“Working from one of our office booths allows me to collaborate with others when I can’t find a last minute meeting room, but also provides me with some privacy and quiet time for when I don’t fancy working at my desk on the main floor.”

What’s the favourite amenity among employees?

“The ping pong table is a crowd favourite and has become a focal point for social interaction. Positioned strategically near reception, employees often gather around it during breaks or after work, engaging in friendly matches and its central location makes it a central spot where people from different departments can easily connect.”

Ashleigh Alberga, People Partner:

“It’s great to be able to step away from your desk, have a breather and connect with peers on a social level. We work hard, we play hard x1000.”

How do our facilities help to create an inclusive workplace?

“The wellness room is a sanctuary that offers employees a secluded space to recharge. It also serves as a wellness and prayer room. In this technology-free zone, employees can step away from the buzz of their workstations and find solace in a tranquil environment. Whether it’s to meditate, pray, or simply take a few moments to decompress, the wellness room caters to the holistic well-being of individuals, acknowledging the importance of mental health in a fast-paced work environment.”

Joyce Kenny, Account Manager:

“I come to the wellness room on those days where work can be a little stressful. It’s great that we have a dedicated space where I can practice mindfulness and switch off for a while.”
