Behind every big bet at Uber—whether it’s entering new markets, investing in new products, or scaling globally—is a team making the numbers make sense. Christopher Cincotta has spent nearly eight years at Uber doing exactly that. From leading M&A finance and integration to now shaping strategy for the Mobility business, his work sits at the intersection of finance and some of Uber’s most important decisions.

We sat down with Christopher to talk about his career journey, what working in Finance at Uber really looks like, and what you should know if they’re considering joining the team.

What drew you to Uber, and what’s kept you here?

When I first joined Uber, I never imagined I would be here for so long. It has been a privilege to have held multiple opportunities across the CAO and Strategic Finance organizations, working on challenging projects alongside such talented colleagues in a dynamic environment.

For someone unfamiliar, what does working in Strategic Finance at Uber actually look like day to day?

Working in Strategic Finance at Uber means operating at the intersection of complex financial modeling and operational decision-making. On any given day, you might be performing deep-dive analysis on marketplace unit economics to right-size incentives, or collaborating with cross-functional teams to launch a new product or integrate a new acquisition into our global business.

Why is now an exciting time to join Uber?

Even at our current scale and maturity, Uber continues to innovate new products and expand globally allowing us to maintain a 20%+ YoY growth rate. Very few companies can sustain this growth while simultaneously expanding profitability.

Uber rating?

My current Uber rating is 4.92, though I must admit it has improved over the past few years while I've worked at Uber.

Go-to Uber Eats order?

After coming back from a trip we always Korean short rib soup, its become very much a tradition of ours.
